Meet Desmond Leahy, Senior Director of Business Analytics at Wineshipping
At Wineshipping, we’re proud to have an extraordinary team of professionals who drive innovation and excellence across every part of our business. One of those standout team members is Desmond Leahy, our Senior Director of Business Analytics.
Desmond joined Wineshipping in October 2015 and has spent the past decade using data to guide critical business decisions. Reporting to our CFO, he leads all things related to parcel carriers—from contract negotiation and pricing to managing discount tiers and invoices. Desmond’s role extends beyond analytics—he works closely with our operations, technology, and account management teams.
Driving Growth with Insight and Strategy
When reflecting on his time at Wineshipping, Desmond shared:
“Our volume grew by 5x during my first six years—it’s been amazing to be part of the long-term evolution of this company.”
Desmond’s path into the shipping world is as unique as it is inspiring. After earning a degree in mathematics and pursuing a master’s in education, he worked as a bartender while searching for a teaching job. One of his regular customers—who happened to be the founder of 24 Seven Enterprises (a company that later merged with Wineshipping)—offered him an entry-level role. Desmond accepted, grew with the company, and now proudly calls himself a “shipper for life.”

A French Bulldog named Robin.
